USRA DAY IN LONDON

All praise belongs to almighty Allah. SLIF UK Ladies wing is delightful to share the news of a successful USRA Day in London.\r\nAmong the services the ladies wing has designed to cater for the variety of needs of the Sri Lankan sisters and children in the western society, the local USRA have played an important role in terms of producing an Islamic family unit.\r\n

USRA is a small study circle formed by about ten sisters who live locally in many different parts of the UK. USRA was initially started by just four sisters in London a year and half ago. Alhamdulillah, today it has grown to more than 75 members all over the UK. The commitment and the change in the life-style of the members of the USRA has brought a great hope and joy. The number of USRAs has grown up considerably.\r\n

The sisters of the circle gather regularly at a convenient time mutually agreed among them. To facilitate these USRA, SLIF UK has produced a learning package, which consists of important Quran verses that every Muslim must know, Duas made by the Prophet Muhammad SAW.(May Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and Hadeeths. The important point to make here is about a learning tool that consists the above mentioned items recorded with their meaning and explanation. This enables one to gain the true knowledge of these Arabic words as Islam expect from every Muslim. Further this enables to learn and understand the meaning of it so that one can apply them in real life. We may have been a saying these Arabic phrases many times without understanding the real meaning.\r\n

The package also includes reading material with other Islamic knowledge that is useful for life. Further, it also has other materials for sisters to prepare presentations on many different titles with the aim of broadening their Islamic knowledge and develop their presentation skills. At the end of each circle, the sisters choose a simple Islamic task called ‘Akhlakh’ practice and endeavor to apply it in their life from there on wards.\r\n

The sisters have been very enthusiastic and have been taking part actively in all different tasks of the circle. USRA has helped the sisters to realize many potential skills they posses within them waiting to be harnessed. It also has given them a chance to look back and think of the great women in Islam and their achievement in the Islamic history. This reminds them of their responsibility of using the skills they have been blessed with to their level best and be a useful citizen in the society they live. Also it gives them opportunity to gain knowledge of current issues as well as issues relating to bringing up children in the western society. Most importantly, it also brings the Tamil speaking sisters in the UK together to achieve our mission of spreading the message of Islam in its correct form within us and to non Muslims.\r\n

The first ever USRA Day Event was held in London in May and it was a milestone. It was a successful day with many objectives being achieved. The great experience of being a USAR member was clearly shown through many different events that were staged on the day. Members of seven local USRA took part and shared their experience with other sisters who participated in the event. This was graced by almost a hundred sisters. Every USRA member worked hard to make this day a memorable one. They shared what they have achieved from the USRA with great enthusiasm. Meantime it was a relaxing, entertaining and joyful day for sisters and children and indeed was an emotional day too for the members of the USRA. The day meant so much for them.\r\n

The members of the USRA realized the need and reflect upon their responsibility to broaden and start more USRA circles in all over the UK and definitely they are determined to do that.\r\nMay the almighty Allah help us do better in future endeavors!
